2019

Starting in 2018, to conform with The First Tee national programs, The First Tee of Beaver Falls will start a transition period, totally changing our program by the year 2019.  2019 will bring even more changes, all to benefit the participants.

The First Tee Life Skills Experience is one of the unique features that differentiates The First Tee from other youth initiatives and junior golf programs.  It helps young people develop character by focusing on Nine-Core Values (Honesty, Integrity, Sportsmanship, Respect, Confidence, Responsibility, Perseverance, Courtesy and Judgement) and Nine-Healthy Habits. (Community, School, Friends, Family, Mind, Vision, Safety, Play & Energy)

Participants move through levels over time, each introducing new and more advanced concepts of golf and life skills that help build character on and off the course.  2018 was the start of changes in our levels.  2019 will embrace entirely new program level guidelines.  In 2019 The First Tee of Beaver Falls will merge with The First Tee of Pittsburgh.  Check back in January to hear all about the coming changes.

Advancing through the Program

The PLAYer level is designed to expose participants of all ages and ability levels to the game of golf and its inherent values.  This level emphasizes the importance of “purposeful play” in the development of skills for golf and life, as well as behaviors associated with the physical healthy habits of energy, play and safety.  2019 NEW REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS LEVEL WILL BE 27 HOURS.

The PAR level focuses on the life skills of interpersonal skills and self-management.  Golf skills are further explored, and the Nine Healthy Habits expanded to some of the emotional and social healthy habits.  2019 NEW REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS LEVEL WILL BE 36 HOURS.

BIRDIE level deals primarily with goal-setting and golf skills development.  2019 NEW REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS LEVEL WILL BE 48 HOURS.

Emphasis in PLAYer, PAR and BIRDIE levels is on the individual.  EAGLE focuses more on group and community interaction.  Lessons provide opportunities for more advanced instruction and practice, as well as additional topics such as conflict resolution, mentoring and educational planning.  2019 NEW REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS LEVEL WILL BE 60 HOURS.

For participants to learn and have skill development be effective at each level, participants must commit to giving the sufficient time needed to ensure concepts are experienced, understood, explored and can be applied in different situations.  The NEW required number of hours per level ensure success.

For all the above reasons, The First Tee of Beaver Falls is committed to working hard for full compliance in 2019.  We are excited and hope this transition year inspires our participants to make a commitment to complete the entire program and use their life and golf skills their entire life.
